Making some extra dough

A common practice among Big Apple pizzerias is to make much larger pizza pies for the display cases that feature the items customers can buy for the slice.

Large pies boxed whole to go with the customer tend to be 16 inches in diameter, while the ones showcased are approximately 20 inches.  Calculations done leads to an advantage of a penny-per-square-inch for the pies under glass.
